Description

Primary marine wire is a specialized single-conductor electrical cable designed for use in boats and ships to connect electrical equipment and components throughout the vessel’s electrical system. Engineered to withstand the harsh marine environment, including constant exposure to saltwater, high humidity, extreme temperatures, and physical stress, this wire provides reliable power transmission for lights, pumps, motors, navigation equipment, and various onboard systems. Constructed with tinned copper conductors that offer superior corrosion resistance compared to standard copper, primary marine wire features robust insulation materials such as PVC, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), or ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer (EPDM) designed to protect against electrical shock and environmental factors. The protective jacket provides additional defense against saltwater, UV exposure, abrasion, and harsh conditions while maintaining flexibility for easy installation and routing. Primary marine wire must meet strict industry standards and specifications including ABYC and UL certifications for voltage rating (typically 600V to 1000V), current capacity, insulation performance, and safety requirements to ensure reliable operation in demanding marine applications.

Individual Gauge Specifications

8 AWG Primary Marine Wire: Built for heavy-duty circuits, our 8 AWG Primary Marine Wire delivers dependable performance with corrosion-resistant tinned copper and rugged insulation designed for demanding marine environments where high current capacity is essential for powering large motors, winches, and other substantial electrical loads.

10 AWG Primary Marine Wire: The 10 AWG Primary Marine Wire is versatile and robust, designed for medium-power marine applications with flexible insulation that allows for easy routing and installation while providing reliable current-carrying capacity for moderate electrical loads and general-purpose marine wiring needs.

12 AWG Primary Marine Wire: Compact and efficient, the 12 AWG Primary Marine Wire is ideal for smaller marine electrical systems, featuring tinned copper construction that ensures maximum conductivity and corrosion resistance for light-to-moderate power applications where space efficiency and reliability are important.

14 AWG Primary Marine Wire: Our 14 AWG Primary Marine Wire provides reliable performance for light-duty marine circuits, with durable insulation that resists moisture, abrasion, and chemicals while delivering consistent electrical transmission for smaller loads and auxiliary equipment in marine environments.

16 AWG Primary Marine Wire: The 16 AWG Primary Marine Wire offers lightweight and dependable wiring for low-power applications, featuring flexible design that ensures easy installation and lasting protection for instrumentation, lighting circuits, and other low-current marine electrical systems.

18 AWG Primary Marine Wire: Perfect for minimal current needs, the 18 AWG Primary Marine Wire is lightweight yet durable, with tinned copper strands and tough insulation providing reliable performance in harsh marine conditions for delicate electronics, sensors, and low-power accessories where precision and reliability are essential.
